It’s never too late to improve your smile! You can benefit from orthodontic treatment at any age; in fact, one in five orthodontic patients today are adults. Adults have many treatment options that may partially or completely correct their crooked teeth or malocclusion. Whenever possible, they can straighten teeth without dental braces using clear aligners (Invisalign alternatives) and other types of removable clear retainers. Results may be seen in as little as six to nine months, depending on your situation.
Dr. Lupini will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each option during your consultation appointment. Dr. Lupini offers tooth-colored braces (ceramic braces or white braces) for his adult patients at no additional charge.
Many adult patients must wear retainers after braces have been removed in order to maintain ideal tooth alignment. A fixed/permanent retainer with a small wire bonded to the backside of the teeth may be necessary to preserve your beautiful results. We offer convenient early morning and late-day appointments to fit your busy schedule.
Orthodontic appliances (dental braces) can be ceramic or metal and are bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to their corrected positions. Our adult orthodontist uses the latest and most esthetic ceramic brackets (3M Clarity Advanced). The latest metal brackets are extremely small and are much easier to care for than older versions. If you choose metal brackets, you can select the color of the ties that seat the wire. Wires are now less noticeable and allow faster tooth movement with less discomfort to patients.
Minor tooth alignment may be corrected with a custom retainer with springs or a series of invisible aligners. Clear aligners (Invisalign type retainers) generally must be worn at least 22 hours per day in order to be effective. Clear aligners and retainers allow Dr. Lupini to straighten teeth without braces.
